Abirami Kirubarajan was a visiting Queen Elizabeth II Scholar from McMaster University, Canada between May and August 2017. As a representative of McMaster Health Forum (World Health Organization Collaborating Centre in Evidence-Informed Policy), Abirami completed an internship in Strengthening Health Systems at the Oxford National Health Service Trust in addition to interning part-time at Evidence Aid. At Evidence Aid, Abirami updated (and continues to co-ordinate) the current collection of evidence on the health of refugees and asylum seekers in Europe. Her research interests include social determinants of health and mental health outcomes for vulnerable populations, as well as aiding knowledge translation for primary care models.
