The review found some evidence that participation is diminished and quality of life outcomes are reduced for earthquake survivors with physical injury.

These results are based on only eight studies with small sample sizes. The study participants were not necessarily representative of the larger group of injured earthquake survivors, and the included studies lacked uniformity in outcome measurement which limited comparisons across the studies and reduced the generalizability of the results. The findings highlight the need for further research in this area based on representative samples of injured earthquake survivors which use validated condition-specific outcome measures.
