19th World Congress on Disaster and Emergency Medicine Claire Allen attended the 19th Congress of the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine. She gave two presentations, one about free access to Cochrane Reviews after Typhoon Haiyan, and the other about the 3ie scoping study “What evidence is available and what is required, in humanitarian assistance?” Claire also co-presented (with Jennifer Pakiam and Elizabeth Norton) a workshop “Nothing is Better Than Free” with the National Library of Medicine and co-presented an Evidence Aid workshop with Professor Virginia Murray of Public Health England

OXFID 2015 conference Claire Allen attended the Oxford Forum for International Development and co-presented a discussion session with Carl Heneghan of the Centre for Evidence Based Medicine

22nd Cochrane Colloquium (Hyderabad, India) – 21-26 September 2014; the 2014 Cochrane Colloquium will focus on ‘Evidence-Informed Public Health: Opportunities and Challenges; a theme that is apt for the setting of the Colloquium in India and South Asia. Claire Allen, Mike Clarke, Bonnix Kayabu and Dominic Mellon will attend.

Evidence Aid Symposium (Hyderabad, India) – 21 September 2014; this workshop is meant for policy makers, academics, humanitarian aid agencies and those preparing for and responding to natural disasters and humanitarian crises; both at the policy and ground level. Claire Allen, Mike Clarke, Bonnix Kayabu and Dominic Mellon will attend.

Humanitarian Technology: Science, Systems and Global Impact 2014 (Boston, Massachusetts) – 13-15 May 2014; Humanitarian Technology: Science, Systems and Global Impact is an exciting, relevant and technically focused international conference that will explore emerging technologies that further enable global humanitarian assistance. Claire Allen will attend and give an oral presentation and a poster presentation (files available at a later date).

40th International Committee of Military Medicine: ICMM conference – 10 December 2013; “Introduction to Evidence Aid” given by Claire Allen at the ICMM’s General Assembly. The ICMM is composed of national who are members of the United Nations (UN) or are members of the World Health Organization (WHO). Representatives of the member states attend the General Assembly.

Northern Ireland Centre of Excellence for Public Health Research conference (no link available) – 29 November 2013; New research project to evaluate the effect of Evidence Aid wins ‘silver’ (abstract and presentation). Dominic Mellon, PhD student at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently undertaking a scoping review to identify key research questions and consider the most appropriate approaches and methods to answer them.

21st Cochrane Colloquium (Quebec, Canada) – 19-23 September 2013; Evidence Aid gave two poster presentations and an oral presentation.
