Prevalence of Guillain-Barré syndrome among Zika virus infected cases
The prevalence of ZIKV-associated Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) was estimated to be 1.23% (95% CI = 1.17–1.29%).
This systematic review aimed to systematically review the literature and perform a meta-analysis to estimate the prevalence of GBS among ZIKV-infected individuals. 3 studies (n= 164,651 individuals with Zika infection) were identified from French Polynesia, the Netherlands, South America, Central America and the Caribbean. The quality of the studies was judged using the CASP checklist and a meta-analysis was performed.
